The MS Societies across Australia have worked together informally for many years, pooling the money they raise for research. The first Australian medical research grant for MS was in Sydney in 1963.
In 2002 moves were made to improve the amount of money going into research to find the cause of MS, to look for better treatments, and ultimately find a cure. This led to the establishing of MS Research Australia (MSRA) in 2004.
