MR A N Abbott
Mr T Abbott

Tony Abbott is a partner in the Dispute Resolution Division of Piper Alderman. He has been a partner at Piper Alderman since 1988 and chairman of the firm since 1999. He is a past President of the Law Council of Australia. He was elected as a member of the Board of Directors of the MS Society of SA & NT in 1984 and Vice-President in 1985. He was elected Honorary President of the Board in 2005.

Mr A G Scott

Alan Scott is the Director of SimsPartners SA and is a Fellow at the Institute of Chartered Accountants and Member of the Board of the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Australia. He is also a member of the IPAA South Australian committee and has worked in corporate & personal insolvency since 1980. Alan was elected as a Director in 2000 and is currently Vice President of the Board. Alan is Treasurer of the Adelaide Hockey Club and in his spare time enjoys a game of golf.

Mr G A Hayes

Greg Hayes has been Treasurer of the Society for two years and has been on the board for five years. Until recently he was a partner in a Chartered Accounting firm and now runs his own company dealing in importing and wholesaling. Greg has had MS for twelve years and is currently one of the respondents to the national long term Longitudinal Study into MS. His objective is to steer the Society to a stable financial position whilst maintaining services to our increasing member base.

Mr M Taplin

Mark Taplin joined the Board last year. He has had MS for about 7 years and has a family history of MS and other auto-immune diseases. He is currently undertaking a phase 3 drug trial with Novartis Pharmaceuticals. Mark is a single dad from Victor Harbor and owns a landscape and building supply business. His aim is to raise public awareness of MS, assist with fundraising and to do whatever it takes to find a cure.

Mr G Warnock

Graeme Warnock has worked in senior managerial positions in the wine, food and airport industries over many years. For the last 15 years he has worked in similar roles in the not-for-profit sector, and is currently a self-employed consultant and advisor to a number of not-for-profit organisations. He brings a wealth of business experience to the Board and holds a degree in Accounting. He is involved in a number of community organisations, including President of the Police Credit Union Choir.

Ms M Hewitt
Marcia Hewitt was appointed to the board in 2007 and is the Communications Manager for Zero Waste SA. She has established a successful career managing communications and community relations for landmark projects including construction of South Australia’s Heyson Tunnels, the first tunnels on the National Highway, and, more recently environmental initiatives which are leading the nation. Her objective is to ensure the Society creates a strong profile which will support its fundraising efforts and dedication to providing quality member services.
Mr J Manning
Sr J Huppatz
Josie’s principal area of work has been in the area of education as teacher, Principal and consultant. In more recent times this work has included administration supporting aged care facilities, supported accommodation for people with intellectual disabilities, and residential support for families in crisis. Her present work includes counselling, mentoring staff in leadership roles in schools, facilitation of staff development and school chaplaincy.
