The Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society owes its existence to a group of volunteers who back in 1964 saw the need for providing support to people with MS. Over the past year our volunteers have contributed in excess of 1,700 hours to the MS Society.
Volunteers enable us to go above and beyond, and we would not be able to deliver the current level of services and support if we did not have a team of dedicated volunteers.
Why should you volunteer?
While the MS Society benefits greatly from the contribution of our volunteers, there are significant personal benefits to those individuals who make up our volunteer worker program. These benefits include;
- Personal satisfaction of making a positive contribution to the community in general and to people living with MS and their support teams in particular;
- A sense of being valued;
- Learning new skills;
- Meeting new people.
Our volunteers are currently involved in a range of activities, including;
- Special project work;
- Administration;
- Badge Day; assisting at MS events such as musicals and quiz nights;
- Delivering equipment;
- Public speaking and promotion;
- Internet research.
The MS Society has an urgent need for volunteers with qualifications or experience in the following areas;
- Financial counselling;
- Legal advice;
- Assisting with Quality Assurance.
