The MS Society Workplace Giving program

Make a difference to the life of a remarkable person with a disability today.

Through Workplace Giving, you can donate to MS Society through your regular pay. Even small amounts like $2 or $5 a week can add up quickly to make a real difference.

With Workplace Giving, you get an immediate tax benefit because your donation comes out of your pre-tax pay. You don’t have to wait until the end of the financial year.

Donating through Workplace Giving is simple, flexible and rewarding. Please read through the information in this brochure and if you are interested in donating through your payroll, please fill out the form opposite and give to your employer.

Thank you.

What is Workplace Giving?

Workplace Giving is a simple and effective way for employees to regularly donate to charities or organisations that are entitled to receive tax deductible donations. To participate in the Workplace Giving program, the charity must have deductible gift recipient (DGR) status.

Workplace Giving is optional. Both the employee and the employer must agree to participate.

How does Workplace Giving work?

You will specify the amount you wish to donate (minimum donation per fortnight is $2). The donation amount will be a fixed amount (nominated by you) that will be deducted from your salary or wages on each pay day. The Workplace Giving program does not affect the way your gross income, super payments or fringe benefits are worked out. Your individual income tax returns are not affected by Workplace Giving.

Whose responsibility is it to keep track of my donations?

Employers will need to provide written advice detailing the amount donated by each employee at the end of each financial year.

This advice can be provided in a letter, by email or on your payment summary.

Where does my donation go?

The MS Society is a not-forprofit organisation. The funds are directed to research projects for a cure to the disease, and the vital specific client support services including:

  • Counselling for the whole family (especially important following diagnosis)
  • Hydrotherapy
  • Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
  • Access to current information, peer support and lifestyle planning
  • Equipment support
  • Respite care
  • Social work services
  • Support in metropolitan, regional and country areas
  • Medical research
